How I Work

Difficulties rarely exist in isolation. Anxiety, low mood, compulsive habits, or relationship problems are often connected to deeper patterns in how a person makes sense of themself, other people, pressure, uncertainty, and what matters.

Therapy begins by taking your experience seriously rather than reducing it to a label alone. Together we look at what is happening, how it came to be, what may be keeping it in place, and where change becomes possible.

This work is not only about symptom relief, though that matters. It is also about helping you feel more open and connected, self-aware and self-assured and authentically engaged with others, the world and life.

To do this, we look in depth at patterns of relating – how you are with loved ones, colleagues, and others; and how you meet authority, change, success, failure, and uncertainty.

If you would like a fuller sense of my approach, the My Approach and Relationships & Relating pages offer a deeper introduction.

Sessions are available in person in Chelsea and London Bridge, as well as online.

How Change Happens

Most people do not lack insight. They already know something is troubling or wrong. They know the relationship is strained, the anxiety keeps returning, the anger is hard to control, the habit is costing them or life has become small.

The difficulty is that patterns often become organised into the way we live. They can shape our lives while feeling protective and familiar – even when we know they are holding us back.

Therapy starts with recognising patterns. It continues through understanding what keeps these patterns in place, and creating the conditions for change that actually last.

“Be patient with all that is unresolved within your heart, and learn to love the questions…”
